Description
A refreshing, easy-to-make summer cocktail featuring fresh blueberries, lemon juice, and sparkling water with vodka or gin. Perfect for warm evenings and customizable for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (or thawed frozen)
- 2 medium lemons, juiced (about ¼ cup / 60ml)
- 2 tablespoons simple syrup
- 1 cup sparkling water
- 2 ounces vodka or gin
- 1 sprig mint leaves
- 1–2 lemon wheels for garnish
- 1 tablespoon extra blueberries for garnish
- Ice cubes
Instructions
- Wash blueberries and pat dry. Juice lemons and measure ¼ cup. Prepare simple syrup if not already made.
- Place ½ cup of blueberries in the bottom of a highball glass. Gently muddle to release juice.
- Add 2 tablespoons of simple syrup to the muddled berries and stir well to combine.
- Pour in the ¼ cup of fresh lemon juice and stir. Taste and adjust sweetness/tartness if needed.
- Add 2 ounces of vodka or gin and stir to combine.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes.
- Top with 1 cup of sparkling water, pouring slowly to preserve carbonation.
- Stir gently with a bar spoon to combine.
- Garnish with a slapped sprig of mint, a lemon wheel, and extra blueberries.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
Use fresh lemons instead of bottled juice for best flavor. If using frozen blueberries, thaw and pat dry first. The base mixture (berries, lemon, syrup) can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 days; add alcohol and sparkling water just before serving. Do not freeze the finished drink as carbonation will be lost.
